If you haven’t met The Happier Homemaker then you have been missing out on my sweet friend Melissa! I’m so pleased to have Melissa as the focus of today’s Feature Friday. She has a super easy and cute Halloween Wall Art project for us today, a DIY Boo Raffia Wall Hanging. Welcome Melissa!
Hi there Sand and Sisal readers! I’m Melissa and I blog at The Happier Homemaker, where I share easy and frugal DIY projects, decors, and recipes.
I have been a huge fan of Kim’s for years and as a Virginia Beach native I love seeing her pictures of my hometown and getting my fix for coastal decor every time I stop by her blog! I was so excited when she asked me to share a post with you {there may have been a squeal} and I hope you love this simple fall DIY wall hanging as much as I do!
Materials
unfinished wood letters
raffia bundle
floral wire
hot glue
acrylic paint
Paint your wooden letters black-I used three coats of Satin paint applied with a foam brush. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly between coats.
When completely dry lay your letters out on your work surface. Separate your raffia into four bundles-two smaller bundles of approximately 7 strands of raffia and two larger bundles of approximately 12 strands.
Lay a small bundle of raffia vertically underneath the spot where the “B” and “O” letters will join and tie a bow being sure to keep the letters exactly as you’d like them to hang. Repeat between the two “O”s.
Take a large bundle of raffia and loop it around the top center of the “B” where you’d like it to hang. Combine the two “tails” of raffia and then divide into three sections and braid for 3-4 inches. Tie remaining ends in a firm knot.
Cut 4″ of floral wire and loop into the back of your raffia knot. Leaving enough of a loop to use as a hanger, twist the floral wire on itself to secure the loop and trim any remaining ends.
Use your last large raffia bundle to tie a bow. Turn your hanging over to the front and use hot glue to secure the bow to the front of the knot.
That’s it! Talk about an easy project, right?
