We all have one somewhere in our home, the infamous loose change pile. Yours might be between the seat cushions, in a jar, or in a ceramic dish, tossed in a junk drawer, in a cup in the laundry room, or in a piggy bank. My six year old is always rummaging through the bottom of my purse to collect the lost pennies. That pile of pennies now has a purpose! Those gorgeous little copper coins can be transformed into amazing crafts, decor, furniture and art. Take a look at 17 Penny Projects you can do yourself! I love decorating with pennies. I did a penny accented dresser a few months ago. Now I may have to add some pennies to my kitchen. I love that eat sign. It’s so cute! Also diggin the earings.
Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti says
I love the look of copper, so I think they all look fabulous!
There is concern about the penny being removed from the US Mint’s production, as it costs more copper to make a penny than a penny is worth, so sadly they may become a scarce commodity someday.
Me says
I think they should stop making pennies out of copper, and raise the value of the
existing copper pennies. Better to increase copper pennies to 2 cents value than
to have people melting them down to get the same value from them as scrap metal.

Thanks so much for featuring my penny ball yard art! I loved seeing all the other things you can do with pennies. That EAT sign is awesome!

I’m crazy about these penny projects. I want to use them to make a statement with a mirror in one of my bathrooms that has a penny blank border I bought at a tile store when I built my rustic timber frame hybrid home 2 years ago. Thank you for the inspiration!
Maureen says
I have seen several different methods of gluing the pennies: grout, glue and varnish. What is the best method? I want to do a 1/2 bat and a backsplash behind my stove, so want to be sure the floor is not slick and both can be easily cleaned. I feel without grout the surface will be uneven, right?
Kim Wilson says
Hi Maureen,
I’ve never done a penny project myself so I couldn’t advise you on which method is best to use, but if you click on the links with each picture, they will take you to the original post and many of those people tell what they used for their projects.
Thanks,
KIM
