This year’s hot color trend for walls, fabrics and decor is welcoming back an old classic: navy blue. Whether you call it navy or indigo, the color evokes feelings of strength and boldness with tradition that has lasted the test of time. Today we are going to explore a few tried and true nautical blue paint colors for walls and cabinetry. These sea worthy coastal blue shades range from near black to shades just shy of navy (for those of you who aren’t quite ready to dive into the deep end).
Nautical Blue Paint Colors

Naval ~ Sherwin Williams (SW 6244)

Van Deusen Blue ~ Benjamin Moore
Newburyport Blue ~ Benjamin Moore

Pair any of these nautical blue paint colors with crisp white trim and millwork to create a classic, yet dramatic space. Which color is your favorite? Have you used one of these in your home? I’d love to hear from you!

You had me at Nautical! Love the inspiration photos. I don’t live by the sea but I love the seaside lifestyle and the homes that are decorated as such. My midwest master bedroom is in the coastal colors with seaside inspiration, but we have a vacation home at the lake in Branson that we rent out and it is totally nautical with that gorgeous blue on our front door.
Love!!!

Beautiful! I have been using lighter versions of some of these in my lakehouse. These rooms are gorgeous.

SW 7604 Smoky Blue is one of my very favorite colors. It has depth that a camera does not capture well. I haven’t used it on the walls but rather as an accent throughout our space. It’s a star player on the stair risers of our central staircase; Smoky Blue is beautiful with the stained wood steps. (White trim & wainscotting keep it crisp.) The staircase viewed from a distance is a bit like an accent wall. Thanks for spotlighting this great color!

Oh Susan, I can just imagine how gorgeous your staircase is! I would love for you to send me a pic of it sometime! My friend Jessica did her master bedroom in it and the color is so beautiful without being too dark or harsh. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you so much Donna for letting me know! I work very hard to find the original source of all photos and could not find this one. I’ve credited the photographer’s site if that is alright. If you would prefer a different credit just let me know. You have a gorgeous home.
Warm Regard,
Kim

Can I ask you what color stain is on your front door? It’s beautiful! 😊

I mixed a custom stain to achieve the look I wanted.
