I need to confess. I am not a morning person. My house has a silent, unwritten rule…. Do not talk to mom before she has had her 1st cup of coffee. Unfortunately not everyone abides by that sacred rule….(my youngest one….jabber jaws ….ahem). My morning mood is ugly, downright scary at times, I must admit. So this summer I’ve decided to make some healthy changes that are hopefully beneficial to both me and my family and will give my morning the kick start that it so desperately needs! Let me introduce you to my little friend….. Mr. Berry Breakfast Smoothie! This Berry Breakfast Smoothie is:
- antioxidant rich
- gluten free
- dairy free
- soy free
- lactose free
- calcium and protein packed
- oh so berry-licious!
The secret to the success of this smoothie is the Silk Almond Coconut Blend milk and an antioxidant blend of frozen fruit- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, and pomegranate seeds. I’ve been using the Silk Almond Coconut Blend milk in my coffee for awhile now, in substitute of creamer and I love it. This milk provides 50% more calcium than dairy milk (which I’m in desperate need of, being over 40 and fine boned)! The Silk Almond Coconut Blend Milk has a very subtle nutty flavor and to be honest, I’d never know it had coconut in it unless you told me. I love coconut, but my 4 kids don’t…. shhhhh…. he has no idea and sucked it straight down! To make the smoothie protein packed, feel free to add a 1 oz. scoop (usually about 3 tablespoons) of your favorite protein powder. I like using a vanilla flavored 100% egg protein powder. With that protein scoop added, this is the nutrient breakdown for this Berry Breakfast Smoothie:
- 270 calories
- 35g carbs
- 24g protein
- 3g fat
I’ve provided a printable recipe for you today!
- 1½ cup of frozen berries (I prefer an antioxidant rich blend of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries and pomegranate seeds)
- 1 cup Silk Almond Coconut Blend Milk
- 1 scoop (3 tablespoons) vanilla flavored Protein Powder
- Combine frozen berries, protein powder, and Silk Almond Coconut Milk in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into glass and garnish with berries or mint.
- Serve and enjoy!

So between my Berry Breakfast Smoothie and my coffee, I’m feeling much more energetic, healthy, less grouchy, and ready to tackle whatever the day brings me…. (of course… a 2nd cup of coffee always helps too!).
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Silk. The opinions and text are all mine.

I absolutely cannot wait to try this!! I’m going tomorrow!
Is there a frozen mix of berries that you buy or do you mix and match?
Kim Wilson says
Hi Chrissi! I can find frozen fruit for a rather good price at Target. I used their antioxident blend for this recipe. You can use any berry blend your prefer of course.
Thanks!

Crystal says
what protein powder did you use? I’m dairy/soy free
Kim Wilson says
The one I use is not dairy or soy free. I’m sorry.
Natalie says
Protein powder makes my toddler throw up and my stomach hurt for some reason (maybe it’s the brand I’m using…). I substituted by adding a banana, using vanilla almond milk, and coconut water. It was delish! And my toddler loved it!
Kim @ Sand & Sisal says
Sounds even yummier!
