Are you anxious at all about how to host and welcome your holiday guests? I attended a fun and interactive Holiday Home Fashion Workshop at Havertys this past weekend and had a great and informative time! Havertys home furnishings is hosting design workshops, free of charge and open to the public. The topic of focus this month was how to create beautiful design in our home with a few easy steps, so that our guest will immediately feel welcome and comfortable.
First impressions are everything! When I was a REALTOR I learned that people will make their first impression of your home within the first 15 seconds upon entering your home. YIKES! What does that mean? Well, it means that you should have a welcoming, warm and inviting foyer or landing space. Havertys set up three very distinctly different foyer tables for all of us in the workshop to decorate. The top photo is my personal favorite. It’s the Rustic Chic look. It is very casual, relaxed and beachy. It incorporates a blend of multiple natural textures in soft hues and warm sheens.
The second look is called Eclectic Charm. It’s a fun mix of classic furniture with modern and bold accessories. This look was put together already for us as a reference. Gilded gold is on its way back in full force to the forefront of home fashion. The sunburst mirror is stunning paired with the black lamp shade.
The third option for a foyer was the very popular and impressive, “Go Glam!” look. This ensemble incorporates the glitz and glam of sparkling mirrors, shimmering mercury glass, sleek chrome and slim and simple lines. We had a 5 minute makeover challenge and I was asked to help judge the winning team. Oh my! The pressure! They all did such a great job! I was so proud of these three lovely ladies who put this gorgeous look together! They were successfully able to blend a mix of chic, modern and simple rustic into one beautiful style for a foyer. The winners also received fun prizes and discounts for winning! I chose this table because it incorporated a balance of color, shape, and finish that kept the eye moving about. The mirror was also placed at eye level which would welcome your guest upon arrival. By “eye-level” I mean that the center of any mirror or picture should be hung so that when the average height person looks into it, their eyes are looking at the center. Congrats ladies for a design well done!
The wonderful designers at Havertys were so welcoming and to be honest, I was surprised to see how they already had great relationships with many of the clients who attended the workshop. Havertys not only is there to serve you with your furniture needs, but they seriously care about your decor and design needs and offer design needs to you free of charge. I had such a nice time with these lovely ladies!

I love to decorate the front door way with wreaths, and christmas decor. I ensure guests always have the essentials handy in the bathroom and kitchen. And also ensure there is plenty of storage room for their things when visiting.

We are getting ready to move into our new “old” 1929 English Tudor and can’t wait to decorate it for Christmas. We hope to bring in some old world charm to make our house very inviting to guests.

I will make my home inviting for my guests by serving various snack trays throughout the entertaining areas and adding fresh greenery all around.

The first thing you see in our home is the fireplace. For this first time since we moved into the house 5 years ago, I decorated for autumn. I would love to win so that I can “trick out” the mantle for Christmas too!

All three tables are so beautiful! I can’t wait to get our foyer finished up. Budgets can make you so impatient sometimes! 😉

I tried posting in the Haverty’s box above, but it would not go through.

facebook, facebook, facebook! Companies still do not believe that not everyone uses facebook. I will never understand the purpose of “liking” a company.
