Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and I know many men (and women) are scrambling today to put together a last minute Valentine gift. I already know what will happen tomorrow for me. Ladies, give me a holla-back if this scenario is yours also. Tomorrow at 5:30 pm your hubs will rush into the house, give you a quick kiss, grab your boys and suddenly whisk off. “We’ll be right back!”, they call to me. Like I’m not aware that they are quickly heading to the closest supermarket to grab up whatever flowers/candy is left at 5:30 on Valentine’s Night. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my men, but we women KNOW how the male mind works… or doesn’t in most cases. 
I can just picture the 3 of them now. Standing in front of the florist department, amongst the other last minute dads in the hood. Thankfully, (hopefully) my I have taught my man my man has learned over the past 20 years of marriage and 4 years of dating before that, that he’d BETTER NOT come home with the typical dozen red roses. We women want creativity and non-cliché flowers for Valentine’s Day. Am I not right?
So this got me thinking about the renewed surge in popularity of Faux Flowers that I’m seeing like everywhere! Ok, I know my mother is going to kill me when she reads this…. uhg. My mom is the queen of faux flowers. Yes, I said it. But she’s darn good, I must admit. I grew up with faux flower arrangements everywhere! Our home was filled with floral beauty. Mom is an amazing floral designer. She can whip up some gorgeous arrangements in no time flat. I really think she’d be a great asset to any florist shop. But I just don’t like fake flowers. I see a beautiful arrangement and then move in to enrapture the experience with a sniff and ummm…. ok, those aren’t real, and I smell dust. It’s such a sensory let down.
Fresh flowers are expensive, trust me I know. But I’m curious to find out what your all think about Faux vs. Fresh. Let’s looks at a few high end silk faux flowers.

I like both, actually – I keep faux flowers in some of the rooms in the house to brighten them up, but I love it when my husband brings me flowers {absolute favorite? red and yellow tulips}

I am not a big flower fan in the house, I like a garden in the spring and summer of color. So real… but only outside.
Nope,.don’t waste my time with flowers …i want chocolate!
I’m not a big flower girl….if my husband wants to, I direct him to Sam’s Club so he can get some reasonably priced blooms. If he wants to spend more, he knows he can get me some jewelry.
I like faux and real, but my favorite is a bush or flowers planted in my garden for cutting when I want them.
I like a potted plant or a heart shaped dish full of succulents! Not big on fake flowers but the pb ones do look good!
Faux never has the nuances that real have…I am ok with faux on thhinsg like door wreaths, but I grow a garden section just for cutting during the spring/summer/fall, and in winter I buy real ones every few weeks. So worth it in my book!
My mom also has always had faux flowers in her home and they look great. I personally don’t care for them because of the dust factor. Plus I think seeing an arrangment of beautiful (faux) hydrangeas out of season seems a bit off to me. Orchids are actually pretty easy to grow and maintain and they bloom off and on all year. Plus, when they do bloom, they last for months:)
(I’m not saying I haven’t been tempted to go the faux route though!)

I like fresh the best but some faux is fine. Like outdoor flowers and bushes etc the most. I do like the dozen red roses but have only gotten them once…would prefer a green plant for inside or something to plant outside.
