Come sit by the fire with me and let’s watch some Christmas Classics together! Family time seems even more important this year and I wanted our family room to be an inviting space. The family room is all decorated for the holidays and I’m so pleased with how simple, relaxed and comfortable the decorations are. Cranberry reds, snow fallen white, and fresh greenery paired with soft textures and silvery sparkle creates a memorable Cozy Christmas Mantel.
Like most of you I’m sure, I’m a total Tar-jay girl (Target). My family jokes that my paychecks should just be direct deposited to Target, I’m there every week! The new Threshold collection has so many beautiful items and these are what I used to create the cozy Christmas mantel.
The dining room displays my DIY Bay Leaf Trees and Paper Christmas Trees, so to continue the cone tree theme, we have beautiful cone trees on the mantel. This Threshold sugared cranberry tree looks so delish, I could almost take a bite out of it! Doesn’t it remind you of sugarplums and the Nutcracker ballet?
I perched the tree on a Threshold white ceramic cable sweater vase for extra height. Mercury glass ornaments and pillar candle holders add a touch of sparkle and twinkle.
The soft cable sweater theme is repeated with the white star and coordinating cone trees. A cranberry garland drapes under the mantel too.
Cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate and wrap yourself in the snuggly softness of a cable knit throw and ruffled pillow, both Threshold also. That pillow is so insanely soft. It’s made from t-shirt material.
A very inexpensive way to decorate is to trim some branches off one of your trees, spray paint them, stick them in a tall vase and tuck in some fresh greenery. It’s makes a beautiful display and best of all it’s free!
You know I can’t escape a bit of the beach! A few white finger starfish repeat the star theme too.
Poinsettias are perfect for that bold splash of color. Group 3 or 4 poinsettias in an inexpensive silver tin pail from the hardware store. Dress it up by wrapping a ribbon around it and tuck in more fresh greenery to fill in any bare spots.
Simple, comfortable and cozy sum up this family room.
You can also easily replicate this look with any items from the Threshold collection. For more decorating ideas you can explore Target’s Holiday Inspiration board.
My friend Jessica at Four Generations One Roof used many of the Threshold Holiday items in her Holiday Home Tour which I recommend for your viewing pleasure!

So pretty Kim! I love how the holiday trees look on your mantel at various heights. Great idea using the star in the middle of your mirror. Everything coordinates perfectly. I would love to cozy up in that chair with that warm looking throw!

Simply gorgeous, Kim! And I always love how you introduce alittle “sea” in every vignette that you create. The addition of the starfish is just so perfect, and so you! Merry Christmas. xo Jenna

So cute! I really love the sweater trees. I used sweater cable knits in my decorating this year too (although I’m kicking myself for not thinking of the trees!) You are always good for inspiration. I love Target too–all those items on the inspiration board are just lovely!

It’s lovely and soooo inviting! I saw those cable knit trees at Tar-jay and wondered if you do them yourself for less? And that was the extent of the thought process!! Ha! Love them…
